This App is an add-on to the pc_met Internet Service of Deutscher Wetterdienst and covers in this new version the following sections of the entire product range:
- Current aviation weather summary for your area in Germany (in German only)
- GAFOR Germany in map display
- METAR and TAF (single reports, proximity search, routing)
- Weather warnings:
o Aerodrome weather warnings for selected airports in Germany
o GAFOR area warnings: aviation weather warnings for GAFOR areas in Germany.
o SIGMET: warnings of potentially hazardous weather phenomena for the lower and upper flight information regions (FIR/UIR) in Germany
- Low Level SWC Germany
- High-resolution RADAR information (Europe composite)
- Lightning information (Europe)
- Satellite information (Europe)
- Current weather observations in map display (visibility, ceiling, wind, weather)
- Three-days-forecast report for your area in Germany (in German only)
- WAWFOR model forecasts (World Aviation Weather Forecast) based on the DWD forecast model ICON-EU for area Europe, for a forecast time range up to +48 hours. The following parameters are available in map display:
o Significant weather
o Cloud cover
o Surface pressure
o Surface wind and gusts
o Precipitation
o Temperature (surface and upper levels)
o Geopotential
o Upper wind
o ADWICE icing information
o Turbulence
o Convection (horizontal and vertical dimension)
The DWD FlugWetter-App is exclusively available for the closed user group “Aviation/pc_met Internet Service” and can only be used in combination with a pc_met Internet Service licence which is subject to a fee. The login and password of the pc_met Internet Service www.flugwetter.de are to be used as access data.
• Expansion of the forecast period for the ICON-EU WAWFOR model predictions from +48h to +78h.
• New thermal forecasts provide lifting ratio , potential flight distance (hourly values and daily total), and thermal height (height of top of dry convection).
• Meteograms can now be accessed for European airfields, with options for IFR, VFR, and gliding.
• Meteograms are now also available for the home airport and favorites.
With the release 2.5, the radar data of the Germany radar composite is available.
The radar data of the Germany radar composite is based on the precipitation scans of the DWD radar sites and is updated every five minutes.
In addition, the Germany radar composite provides a displacement prediction for a forecast period of up to +2 hours in five-minute time steps. The different precipitation phases (rain, sleet, snow, hail) are displayed to match the Germany Radar composite.
The Deutscher Wetterdienst is expanding the forecast data in the DWD FlugWetter app:
On November 23, 2022, additional WAWFOR (World Aviation Weather Forecast) data will be introduced with the 06 UTC model run. Additional altitude levels in 1000 feet steps will then be available in the app for the parameters wind, temperature, icing and turbulence.
In addition, minor errors have been eliminated in the new version 2.4.
The DWD FlugWetter-App Version 2.3 offers the following new functions:
Visualization of WAWFOR model forecasts (World Aviation Weather Forecast) for area Europe. The WAWFOR is a digital aeronautical dataset specifically for the purposes of aviation. The WAWFOR data are based on the DWD forecast model ICON-EU and are available for a forecast time range up to +48 hours, the time resolution is one hour.
Display of aviation weather warnings for Germany:
- Aerodrome warnings: aerodrome weather warnings for selected airports in Germany.
- GAFOR area warnings: aviation weather warnings for GAFOR areas in Germany. GAFOR area warnings are issued representative of the airfields in the respective GAFOR areas.
- SIGMET: warnings of potentially hazardous weather phenomena for the lower and upper flight information regions (FIR/UIR) in Germany.
Radar data has been optimized.
