About this app

Google Messages is the official Google app for messaging over Rich Communication Services (RCS) with fallback to SMS/MMS. Get more done in your messages with one-tap calendar reminders and emoji replies, and keep your conversations secure with spam protection and end-to-end encryption so you can focus on connecting with the people and businesses you care about — no matter what device they use.

Know when friends are typing or when they've read your message, share high-resolution images and videos, easily add people to a group chat, and experience an all-around richer messaging experience.

End-to-end encryption secures your eligible communications, so no one (including Google and third parties) can read or view your messages and attachments except the person you’re messaging.

If a website is suspicious or unsafe, you’ll be warned before clicking any links. You can also block and report potential spammers to help stop unwanted and fraudulent messages.

Share high-resolution videos directly from your Google Photos library.

Keep the conversation going no matter what device you're on. Enjoy RCS chats with friends on your phone, computer, Android tablet, or smart watch with the Messages app.

Access suggested replies, one-tap calendar reminders, link sharing, and more without leaving your message. Reply quicker and get more out of your conversations with smart actions.

Suggested responses, gifs, and emojis make conversations faster and more fun. Reply back to messages with just a tap and keep the conversation going.

Of course Messages is essential. Otherwise I'd rate it lower. There are some things that work better than the one in the iPhone ecosystem; I guess overall I'd rate them pretty close because Apple makes its share of head-scratching design decisions. As far as Google, a couple of examples. Their anticipation of typing is a bit overconfident, although I'd rate it slightly better than Apple's. On my 23 Ultra, sometimes Notifications seem on and off. I don't mess with Settings, so this puzzles me.

Issues for drafting a message are still persistent on the Z Fold 5 when unfolded (can't see past second line of text, bouncing draft message center, etc). Clearing cache is ineffective. This is disappointing as Google Messages is a default app for many Android Users and offers a great alternative to Samsung Messages. Please listen to the feedback of the users and tackle the issues at hand so that we're all able to have a great experience. Thanks.

Hi, Rafael. We're sorry to hear that. The team is working hard to make Messages better over time. Please continue to help improve Messages by sending feedback within the Messages app. Click the Menu button then the 'Help and Feedback' tab and tap 'Send Feedback'.

It's the default app, so it's fine. Why can't I copy specific words?? Sometimes I just want to copy and address but I have to copy an entire message, paste that into Google maps and then delete all of the non-addressed portions manually. Pretty weird. Edit: No idea what the developers note is about. The app is functioning fine, It's just lacking the feature to allow you to copy individual words or letters or numbers. The option to copy an ENTIRE text messages text is available.
