I would have loved to have given this app 5 stars for making credible and authoritative news available to Chinese-speaking readers around the world. The critical problem is that there is no tool for increasing the app character font size. The default character size in the app is so small as to make the text nearly illegible. The irony is that the web-browser version has such a tool, but it actually doesn't need the tool. Whereas the app desperately needs such a tool.

This is a terrific app for learning Chinese - use a character identifier like Hanping Popup to read the characters and compare them with the English translation. Great for improving your knowledge of the syntax of longer sentences, as well as getting some reportage from China. A big thank you to NYT for this!

Don't install apps that have a substancal connection to Red China or are either willingly or are likely to - the communist rebels temporarily occuping mainland China, like every other communist and other assorted leftist regimes, always have large well funded departments to coerce you. And unfortunately the communist rebels temporarily occuping mainland China operate a full spectrum service. If they only need to threaten to fire you they'd do that or if need by their cut your fingers off.
