About this app

'Create A Riff' is an app that lets you type in a name, word, phrase, etc... (max 16 letters), then watch it play as a riff on a guitar neck and tab staff, or you can mute the guitar and play along. You can also add chords via strings or a synth, and choose from rock or progressive drums.

The app is the rock/guitar version of the app 'Play The Name'.

There's a tutorial online I have not watched but the reviews of this apps confusing operation are true regardless. Its based of a qwerty board embedded into the app and this has no key or legend so you see letters and will have to revert to either a self made list or one online to decode what letters add what not to the tab. Single notes only and no way to change effect which is default 90's crunch guitar with more distortion (its not subtle but it works for rock riffs) I deleted after 5mins

The app just makes a tune out of whatever you type in. Pretty simple stuff. Here's the tutorial... https://youtu.be/rc60hjZ3SEE

This is a fun app and very useful. Regardless of experience level it can be useful/entertaining. I haven't gotten a chance to play along with any sequences I've made but I am looking forward to doing so. Maybe adding a tempo/bpm parameters in future update would be fabulous. Thank you, Ron!

Great app. Does glitch if you use it for an extended amount of time though. Once you understand the keyboard and the notes it is great. Have written a few good ones. Even some in drop d. Just type a word and play it. Fantastic concept.
