Berat Kandili (night) is the fifteenth night of Shaban. Its original is “Berâet”. Berat dictionary; means "to get rid of a difficulty and to be free". Also, this night is called “Leyle-i Mubâreke”, it is a fruitful night. It is called “Leyle-i Berâe”. “Leyle-i sâk” is called the night of documents. It is called “Leyla-i rahme” and the night of mercy.

On this night, all the works that will take place in a year are decided and given to the angels by Allah for their execution. It is virtuous to spend the night with worship and prayer and fasting during the day.

There are five characteristics of Berat night:

1- Every important business is distinguished on this night.
2- The virtue of worship that night is great.
3- Divine mercy spreads.
4- It is the night of forgiveness.
5- That night, the Messenger of Allah was given the full right of intercession.

Because, St. Muhammad (pbuh) asked for intercession on the thirteenth night of Sha'ban, one third of this intercession was given, he asked again on the fourteenth night, another third was given, he requested again on the fifteenth night, and all of the intercession was granted tonight. Those who are deprived of this intercession are those who flee from Allah, just as a camel is frightened and flees.
