Kartika Poornima (Kartika purnima) is a Hindu, Jain and Sikh holy festival, celebrated on the Purnima (full moon) day or the fifteenth lunar day of Kartika (November–December). It is also known as Tripuri Poornima and Tripurari Poornima. It is sometimes called Deva-Diwali or Deva-Deepawali - the festival of lights of the gods.
On Kartika Poornima, people bathe at a water body like river. After taking bath, devotees worship Goddess Laxmi and Lord Vishnu. Few people also observe Satyanarayana Vrat on this day and perform Satyanarayana Katha. Apart from this, donation and Rudrabhishek is considered auspicious on this day. Any auspicious ceremony performed on this day is considered to be equivalent to 10 Yajnas.
