On 5 April 2021, Makhadzi released a single "Mjolo" featuring Mlindo the Vocalist.[14][15] The song peaked number 28 on South Africa iTunes charts.[16] On 7 July 2021, she released "Ghanama" featuring Prince Benza.[17] On 16 August 2021, she announced her album African Queen on Twitter. The album was scheduled to be released on 3 September 2021.[18] On 27 August 2021, she released a single "Tchukutsha" featuring Lady Du.[19]
On 6 August 2021, Kabza De Small teased a collaboration single with Makhadzi on YouTube.[20] The song "Salungano" was released on 2 September 2021. On 3 September 2021, her album was released.[21] The album features Cassper Nyovest, Kabza De Small and Lady Du.[22]
At the 6th ceremony of All Africa Music Awards, she received a nomination for Best Female Artist in South Africa.
