The exhibition hosted at the Salone degli Incanti in Trieste is dedicated to the Dutch genius Maurits Cornelius Escher: a reserved, restless and undoubtedly brilliant artist who created in his famous engravings and lithographs a unique, imaginative, impossible world, where art, mathematics, science, physics and design.
The exhibition - divided into 8 sections - narrates the Dutch genius through about 200 works among which we find the most iconic of his production such as: Hand with a reflecting sphere (1935), Bond of union (1956), Metamorphosis II (1939) and the Emblemata series.
This App - like the itinerary of the exhibition - starts from the art-nouveau works dating back to the period of training at the school of Jessurun de Mesquita, coming to place the emphasis on the period of the trip to Italy, the country where Escher lived with the his family for many years and which he visited from north to south representing him in many of his works.
A special feature of the Trieste exhibition is the section with the series The Days of Creation exhibited for the first time in the world: it is a nucleus of six woodcuts created between December 1925 and March 1926 and which tells the story of the first six days of the Creation of the World .
This App - which is made up of a standard path made up of 23 points of interest and a path entirely dedicated to children - therefore tells and analyzes the main elements of the production of Escher - a multifaceted and contemporary artist of his time - who was however capable of anticipate entire artistic currents such as Surrealism and Optical Art. In fact, he not only found in the world of numbers, geometry and mathematics the only key to giving shape to his creative universe but he drew heavily on the various languages by merging them into a intriguing new path.
Escher, in this sense, can therefore be considered unique in the panorama of the history of art of all times that always excites the general public.
