Europe is going climate-neutral. That means more demand for wind energy. The Green Deal is a new deal for us. New customers. New partners. New business models.
At Electric City, we are taking all this to the next level. This is our chance to meet new people, forge new partnerships, study new models and draw-up a cross-sectoral roadmap to transform Europe’s energy system in the years ahead! A climate-neutral European economy requires huge volumes of wind energy in the power mix – up to five times what we have today. Major industries like chemicals, steel and others are actively looking to decarbonise by replacing the fossil fuel energy they use with clean electricity. The heating and transport sectors are going more electric too. The EU sees wind being half of Europe’s electricity by 2050. So wind will be the backbone of the new decarbonised energy system. This’ll bring us new customers. People are knocking on our door looking to decarbonise with wind. We’ll need to diversify our partnerships, engage different industries and develop new business models. We’ll have to think supply and demand. All this creates immense opportunities for onshore and offshore wind.
Enter Electric City! This is our defining on- and offshore wind energy event, but with participants from heavy industry, mobility, district and domestic heating, energy storage, hybrids, hydrogen and more! Cross-sectoral cooperation and new partnerships will be vital if we’re going to electrify the energy system! This means new voices at the conference, debating changes we need in policy, business models and technology to deliver the transition. It means new business partners and customers for you on the exhibition floor. Including people who haven’t engaged with wind before but now want to. It means a unique event where you’ll find a diverse programme covering a every aspect of electrification, demonstrations of new technologies, new thinking and new relationships to power the energy transition – and Europe’s Green Deal. At the same time, it will be a key gathering for us as an industry.
A chance after two years of isolation to re-connect, and get up to speed on everything that is going on in wind energy across Europe. Virtually everyone from the wind sector across Europe (and beyond) will be there, under one roof at last. So who else is coming? We’ll have 10 Government Ministers from across Europe, financiers, academics and innovators, leaders in their respective fields. We’ll have over 300 exhibitors in our specialised Exhibitors Hall, including some of the top brands in European wind – eager to meet and do business. And we’ll have special zones for figures in distinct fields – an Innovation Park showcasing cutting-edge start-ups. A Safety, Skills and Training Zone for leaders in all things health and safety. And Global Markets Theatre showcasing emerging markets for wind across the globe. And the venue? Denmark has lifted all its restrictions – the brand-new Bella Center in Copenhagen has already hosted a number of safe events in recent months. We have put together a comprehensive health and safety protocol for the event which we’ve drawn up with the Danish authorities, the venue and leading exhibitors.
