Sheikh Abdul Hamid Kishk was born in Egypt in 1933 in the village of Shubra Khit from the work of the province of the lake in the Arab Republic of Egypt. because of his illness he lost his sight . In 1964 he was appointed Imam of the Ain Al-Hayat Mosque on Misr and Sudan Street in Deir Al-Malak district after being arrested in 1966 during the plight of Islamists Time under President Gamal Abdel Nasser. He was imprisoned in the castle and then transferred to Tora prison and released in 1968. He was subjected to brutal torture in the meantime, yet he retained his position as Imam of the Ain al-Hayat Mosque.
In 1972 he began to intensify his sermons and increased his fame widely and attended prayers with huge crowds of worshipers. Since 1976, he began to clash with power, especially after the Camp David Accords, accusing the government of treason against Islam and reviewing the images of corruption in Egypt in terms of social, artistic and public life. He was arrested in 1981 along with a number of political opponents in the famous September decisions of Egyptian President Mohamed Anwar Sadat. He was released in 1982 and never returned to his mosque, which was banned from him and prevented from speaking or giving lessons.
Sheikh Abdul Hamid Keshk refused to leave Egypt to any of the Arab or Islamic countries despite the temptation, except for the pilgrimage of the Holy Mosque in 1973. He has written for over 12 years, from 1982 until the summer of 1994, including a book on the stories of the Prophets and another on Fatwas. He has completed the interpretation of the Holy Qur'an under the title of "In the Rehab of the Qur'an" and has about 2,000 cassettes Among the speeches delivered on the platform of the mosque (Ain Al-Hayat). Sheikh Kishk had some of his reformist views of Al-Azhar, as he was advocating that the position of Sheikh Al-Azhar be elected not by appointment and that Al-Azhar should return to what it was before the Development Law of 1961 and that the study should be limited to the Islamic faculties of Islam, That the main function of Al-Azhar is the graduation of preachers and preachers of mosques, which are more than 100,000 in Egypt.
