The Brothers Grimm are German linguists and researchers of the German folk culture. They collected folklore and published several collections under the title "The Tales of the Brothers Grimm", which became very popular. In 1826, VA Zhukovsky translated two tales of the Brothers Grimm into Russian from French for the magazine "The Children's Interlocutor" ("Dear Roland and the Maiden Clear Color" and "The Princess-Dog Rose"). The first full Russian translation was completed in 1863-1864. Folklorist V. Ya. Propp testified about the occurrence in the Russian village of such tales of the Grimm brothers as "Little Red Riding Hood" and "Bremen Town Musicians" (which were not peculiar to Russian folk subjects) exclusively in the oral tradition. The influence of the subjects of the Grimm brothers' fairy tales is also traced in Pushkin's three tales: The Tale of the Dead Princess and the Seven Knights, The Tale of the Fisherman and the Fish and the Bridegroom.
