Jibanananda Das (February 17, 1899 - October 22, 1954; Bangabandh Falgun 6, 1305 - Kartik 5, 1361) was one of the main modern Bengali poets, writers, writers and professors of the twentieth century. He is said to be the "pure poet" of Bangla. He is among the pioneers of modernization in Bengali poetry. He began to gain popularity in the last phase of the 20th century, and in 1999, when his birth anniversary was celebrated, he became the most popular poet of Bengali literature. Although he is a poet, he has published and published several articles. However, before the sudden death of 1954, he has published 21 novels and 108 short stories written by him, one of which he did not publish in his lifetime. He spent his life in extreme poverty. In the late half of the twentieth century, his influence was printed in Bengali poetry inexplicably. After Tagore, he was recognized as the chief poet of Bangla language. He has been described as the correct poet of Bengali language.

On 14th October, 1954, he was injured in a tram collision in Ballygonj in Kolkata. Her body was trampled in trash crutches. The collapses, thighs and ribs bone were broken.

Chinilal, the owner of the nearest tea shop, and others, rescued him after hearing the screams of the seriously injured Jibanananda. He was admitted to Shambhinath Pandit Hospital During this time, Dr. Bhumendrha Guha, along with many young poets, made a vigorous effort to offer Jibanananda's treatment. Poet-writer Sajanikanta Das took special initiative in this regard. At that time, the then Chief Minister of West Bengal, Dr Bidhanchandra Roy came to see Kabie and ordered the injured poet to treat it, though it did not have much improvement in medical treatment.

However, living conditions became increasingly complex. Finally, the poet became infected with pneumonia. All attempts of doctors and nurses have been completed and on 22nd October, 1954, he died at Shampunath Pandit Hospital in Calcutta at 11.35 pm.

Jibanananda Das (Bengali: Jibanananda Das, / dʒɪbɒnʌnɒndɔː dʌʃ /) (17 February 1899 - 22 October 1954) was a Bengali poet, writer, novelist and essayist. While not specifically recognizing initially, today Das has acknowledged as "the premier poet of the post-Tagore era in India". One of his translators, Clinton B. Seely, is among those who think about Jibanananda Das as "Bengal's great modern poet" and its "best loved poet" too. Author and literary critic, Amit Chaudhuri concurs, describing Das's writing with admiration: "The poems are now part of the Bengali consciousness, on both sides of the border dividing India from what is Pakistan and now Bangladesh; it is claimed that Das is the pre-eminent and best loved Bengali poet after Tagore. " For the poets in the latter half of the twentieth century Das "has been practically come to take place of Tagore". Das's oeuvre is eclectic and resists classification under any single heading or school.

Das died on 22 October 1954; eight days after he was hit by a tramcar The witnesses said that though the tramcar whistled, he did not stop and got struck. Some deem the accident as an attempt at suicide.
