Translations of
the Qur'an The Qur'an began to be translated into European languages, including Latin, from the 12th century. A French translation by the French orientalist Andre du Rie was published in Paris in 1647. Based on this translation, by order of Peter I, the Koran was translated into Russian and published in Petersburg in 1716. The French translation became the basis for publications in many languages.
The Qur'an was translated from European languages at the beginning of the 18th century, from the original Arabic text into Russian from the middle of the 19th century. The first Russian translation from Arabic by G.S. Sablukov was published in Kazan 3 times (1878, 1894, 1907). Adequate-literary translation of the Qur'an in Russian with scientific comments was made by academician I. Yu. Krachkovsky and was published after his death (1963).
To date, 1700 different interpretations of the Qur'an have been written. For example, Muhammad Sadiq Muhammad Yusuf's work "Tafsiri Hilal" consisting of several volumes (Tashkent, 1992-2005), Abdulaziz Mansur's "Translation and interpretation of the Holy Qur'an" (Tashkent, 2004) were published in Uzbek. The Quran has been translated into more than 1000 languages. After the independence of Uzbekistan, Alauddin Mansur's Uzbek annotated translation of the Holy Qur'an (Tashkent, 1991), Abdulaziz Mansur's Translation of the Holy Qur'an (Tashkent, 2001), Mutallib Usman and others' Holy Qur'an. Translation and scientific-historical notes" (Book 1, Tashkent, 2004) were published. Also, a separate 8-volume book of the Qur'an in raised letters (braille) was published for the blind (2004).
History
According to Islamic historical sources, the revelation of the Qur'an began in 610 AD. At the age of 40, the Prophet Muhammad was sitting in deep meditation in the cave of Hira near the city of Makkah, when the angel Gabriel brought the first 5 verses of Surah Alaq, which begins with "Iqra" ("Arrow"). This process lasted 13 years in Makkah, 10 years in Madinah, 23 years in total. The revelation of the Qur'an took place on the night of the 27th day of the month of Ramadan according to Islamic belief. That is why this month is considered holy and the 27th night of the fasting day is glorified as Laylatul-Qadr, that is, the blessed night when precious, divine power is manifested, and the one-year fate of servants is decided (qadr - fate, measure).
