Gregory A. Boyd
Greg Boyd was born in 1957 year. He was raised in the traditions of the Roman
the Catholic Church.
As a teenager, Greg Boyd became an atheist. Because of this, he felt free from fear of death and hell. He was looking for the meaning of life in the eastern religions and in drugs. In 1973, after a sobering experience with drugs, he decided not to take them anymore.
Instead, he began to be interested in philosophy, and tried to find the meaning of life there. Boyd himself believed that "religion is just a crutch for weak people." One friend challenged him, turning the phrase: "What if your disbelief is just a crutch, because you can not cope with the truth that we all have to answer to our Creator?" This made Boyd think.
In 1974, after the 17th birthday, Greg Boyd became a follower of Christ.
After believing, Boyd continued his studies in philosophy and theology. In 1988, Boyd received a doctorate (summa cum laude) in the theological / spiritual seminary of Princeton University.
In 1992, at the request of the leader of the Baptist General Conference, Boyd founded the Woodland Hills Church (Baptist General Conference) in Saint Paul, Minnesota. Until today, he serves there as a senior pastor.
In 2000, he began the "Christ the winner" service, now called "ReKnew", through which he serves skeptics and believers outside the local church.
Greg and his wife Shelley have been married for more than 32 years. They have three children and five grandchildren. They live in Saint Paul, Minnesota.
