The Koran (from Arabic القرآن, al-qurʕān, 'recitation', [qurʔaːn], Persian: [ɢoɾʔɒːn]), also transliterated as Alcorán, Qurán or Korán, is the sacred book of Islam, which according to Muslims contains the word of God (or Allāh, الله), revealed to Muhammad (Muhammad, محمد), who is considered to have received these revelations through the archangel Gabriel (Ğibrīl جبريل).
