The Qingshang Movement is a development process in which young people step into social service associations. Beginning in the United States, it gradually spread to all continents of the world and then continued to develop in many countries.
On October 13, 1915, in St. Louis, Missouri, USA, a man named Henry. The youth of Henry Giessenbier and his friends formed a group called Young Men's Progress Civic Association. Together with the youth, they worked together as a place for the "Young Men's Progress Civic Association". Service, be a good citizen. This is the origin of the Qingshang movement.
After the establishment of the Youth Encouragement Association, it actively promoted various social service activities and attracted many aspiring young people to participate. Therefore, the membership expanded from 32 to 750 within six months. The rapid progress made members more enthusiastic to promote the activities of this society, and more resounding and support from the society. In 1916, the name of the society was changed to "Junior Citizens" (JC).
In 1919, the association was supported and sponsored by the St. Louis Chamber of Commerce. It was renamed the "Junior Chamber of Commerce". At this point, the Youth Chamber of Commerce in St. Louis was no longer confined to local youth. Expanded to all parts of the United States, many places have set up a green business community. The nationwide "Young Chamber of Commerce" was finally established in June 1920.
Ge Senyu, the founder of the Youth Chamber of Commerce, stated that the main purpose of the Youth Chamber of Commerce was when the National Youth Chamber of Commerce was established:
1. Promote cooperation among domestic youth groups.
2. Promote the efficiency and development of such groups.
3. Provide opportunities for young people to study local, state, and national groups.
4. Improve the ability of members to do things in a variety of positive ways.
5. To obtain consistent opinions and actions through discussion methods on issues affecting domestic private commercial interests.
At the time, the purpose of the Youth Chamber of Commerce was further expanded by the original "training themselves and serving people" to join topics such as unity, cooperation, understanding and efficiency, while emphasizing the nature of "non-religious, non-political". The community uses "service" as its basic principle.
At this time, the development of the Green Chamber of Commerce has roughly clear directions, principles and organizational forms. Actively set up clubs in various places. In addition to participating in the training and activities of young businessmen, they also encouraged club members to work hard to promote community service work, thus forming a basic activity model for the Qingshang community.
Since 1915, many American intellectual youths have participated in this society. Most of them have independent economic ability and certain social status. They want to do more things for the society and want to train their own abilities. Through these spontaneous organizations, these young and energetic young elites use their talents and enthusiasm to give back to the society while learning the spirit of cooperation and democracy. As a result, this movement has not only become a national movement in the United States, but has further expanded overseas.
Internationalization of the Youth Chamber of Commerce
The Qingshang Movement was originally a youth association movement formed by young Americans during the First World War because they felt that young people in the society needed mutual assistance and cooperation, caring for the community and engaging in public welfare services. After the end of the war, it not only became a national movement in the United States; it also established branches in Canada and the United Kingdom, and then extended to countries in Central and South America, as well as Australia, New Zealand and other countries in Oceania.
After the internationalization of the Qingshang Movement, the youth business organizations of various countries also joined together for the first time in 1932.
In 1932, the American Green Business Conference was held in Pasadena, California. In the same year, the Olympic Games Conference was held in Los Angeles, so many foreign business members came to the Qing Business Conference. Under this opportunity, representatives of various countries discussed the establishment of the "International Executive Council of Junior Chamber of Commerce", including: the United States, Mexico, Canada, New Zealand. This is the first attempt by an international youth business organization. However, the positioning of this organization was not clear enough, and it was stopped in 1935.
After the World War II Japanese warplane bombed the US Pearl Harbor Naval Base on December 7, 1941, the American Youth Chamber of Commerce felt that the United States needed more cooperation with the countries of Central and South America, and decided to support and help the Central and South American countries to establish the Qing Chamber of Commerce. And actively seek opportunities to establish a youth chamber of commerce.
In 1944, the time was finally ripe. At the meeting held in Mexico, Mexico, and other countries with green business associations were invited to participate, and the establishment of the International Chamber of Commerce (JCI) was announced. That is, December 11th, it is "International Youth Business Day" (JCI DAY).
The Green Business Movement launched by Gerson in the First World War was a new era in the Second World War. The main reason is that war has made the role of youth in society stand out, making the society aware of the power of youth, raising the expectations of young people and their responsibilities to society. The Second World War made the United States abandon its internationally isolated attitude and recognized the importance of international cooperation. At that time, the American Youth Chamber of Commerce found that they must also integrate with the youth business movements of other countries, and then actively promote the establishment of the Qingshang International Organization.
In February 1946, the first World Congress of the International Youth Chamber of Commerce was held in Panama, the Charter of the International Youth Chamber of Commerce was adopted, and the "THE JCI CREED" was proposed as follows.
At the first meeting, the participants of the Qingshang Movement must be young people between the ages of 20 and 35. Because the youth have a pure, passionate and ideal character.
After the establishment of the International Youth Chamber of Commerce, the President of the US General Assembly pointed out: "The Youth Chamber of Commerce is not only a well-organized group, but also a group of young people from all over the world. It is also a group that seeks human kindness and peace." To date, the Green Chamber of Commerce has become the largest youth organization in the world, spread across all continents, and new chapters are established every year. The Qingshang Movement is in the ascendant. At present, the Youth Chamber of Commerce has a total of 91 national associations, 8,571 local chapters, and nearly 350,000 individual members. Four communication languages are used: French, Spanish, English, and Japanese; and annual world conferences and regional conferences are held. .
The history of the Republic of China
In the 40th year of the Republic of China (AD 1951), Mr. Rober to T. Villarnuew, Vice President of the World Youth Business Center in Asia, visited China. He hoped to introduce the Qingshang Movement to young friends in China. Through the introduction of the Philippine ambassador to China, Adewa, he met Wang Guozhen, who served in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Wang Guozhen invited Zhang Lian, Feng Yuheng, Shen Shan and other 12 Chinese and foreign youths to hold a symposium, detailing the spirit and purpose of the Qingshang, encouraging everyone to prepare for the establishment of the China Chapter, and urging the staff to attend the event in Hong Kong and Japan. The first and second annual meeting of the Asian Business Asian Region was held. These points were accepted and an interim preparatory group was immediately established. Feng Yuheng was appointed as the team leader and Wang Guojun was the secretary. He was responsible for the preparation of the organization of the club. As an observer, Wang Guozhen participated in the first and second annual Asian Youth Conferences held in Hong Kong and the following year in Japan. He was deeply impressed by the spirit of the Qingshang. He was full of enthusiasm for expanding the Qingshang movement and returned to China. Decided to organize the Chinese branch, finally in Zhang Lianzhen, Xie Zhen, Zhou Jizheng, Zhang Mingxiang, Wang Shizhen, Huang Liang, Ding Weidong, Zhang Renfei, Qi Jingying, Shen Yisheng, Zhang Zhongren, Ye Qingping, Ding Yuansheng, Pan Lisheng, Hu Weimin, Wang Guozhen, Zhu Xi, Lu Songsheng, Li Mingyu and other 19 people were preparatory members. Zhang Lianxi (the first president) was the convener and actively prepared. After the Ministry of the Interior approved the establishment of the inaugural meeting on March 1, the Republic of China, the International Youth Chamber of Commerce was officially born. .
After the establishment of the International Youth Chamber of Commerce in the Republic of China, the Ministry of Internal Affairs approved the establishment of the Taipei City, the name was the China Chamber of Commerce of China, and later with the name of the World Federation, it was held in Taichung until December 50. At the 9th annual meeting, the resolution was approved by the Ministry of the Interior as the "Republic of China Youth Chamber of Commerce". In February 51, it was renamed the "International Youth Chamber of Commerce of the Republic of China".
The International Youth Chamber of Commerce of the Republic of China is currently organizing branches in counties and cities and important towns and villages in Taiwan Province. In 2014, there were 156 chapters and more than six current members. The President of the National People's Congress Election Council and the Supervisory Board of the National People's Congress are held every year to perform the conference activities and all external matters on behalf of the national members. The general meeting will be held on the 8th floor of No. 45, Section 4, Nanjing East Road, Taipei City. The secretariat will be staffed and staffed to handle routine meetings.
"Serving the crowd and training yourself" is the highest ideal for young businessmen. In order to encourage young people to serve the society, create careers and carry forward outstanding achievements, the International Youth Chamber of Commerce has promoted the selection of the “Top Ten Outstanding Youths” since the Republic of China in 52 years.
