Sahih Muslim
By Imam Muslim (May Allah be merciful to him)
His name: Abu al Hussayn Muslim ibn al Hajjaj ibn Muslim ibn Ward an Naysaburi was from an Arab tribe from which his family name is derived: Al Quchayri. As for An Naysaburi it is derived from the name of its country of residence, Nichapour, a great city of Khorassan. Its date of birth, uncertain, is around 204 or 206 of the hegira.
His childhood: The environment where he was raised facilitated the learning of useful science. Indeed, Nichapour was a country animated by the sciences of Islamic law. There were many teachers and students there. His father was among those who were interested in science and he was probably the one who encouraged him on this path. From the age of 12 (or 14) he participated in the Hadith sessions.
Two years later, on the occasion of his pilgrimage (he was still a beardless boy), he met the scientists of Mecca and other scholars while he was on the road to travel. He undertook many journeys (around Khorassan, Iraq, Hijaz, Egypt, Châm ...) in search of Hadith because of the dispersal of the transmitters.
Its end: Muslim, may Allah have mercy on him, died in the evening of Sunday in Rajab in the year 261 AH in the land of Nichapour. He was 50 and a few years old. Pray that Allah will give him His mercy and satisfaction.
