Coquito is a textbook and school syllabus for primary education that develops a reading and writing learning method created in 1955 by the Peruvian teacher Everardo Zapata Santillana.
Coquito came to sell up to 720,000 copies a year, being distributed throughout several Latin American countries and of which 52 editions have been made. The textbook continues to have a presence in fifteen countries, in addition to Peru, among which are Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Spain, Paraguay, Mexico, Uruguay and Venezuela -
