Fortuna Dusseldorf carries many names. "Dusseldorf gymnastic and sports club Fortuna 1895 eV" is the official name of the sports club from Dusseldorf - Flingern. The fans of the club, this tapeworm is certainly too long when they cheer their club in the Esprit Arena. They call it simply Fortuna, the Fortunen, the Flingeraner or even F95 - in reference to the inscription of the club coat of arms.
The club was founded on 5 May 1895. The Fortuna recorded the greatest successes early in the club's history: 1933, the German football championship was celebrated. So far, it has remained the only league title. About 50 years later, the Dusseldorfers had again a sporting high with the players Klaus and Peter Allofs. In 1979 and 1980 they won the DFB Cup. The Dusseldorfers still hold the record of the most winning cup games in a row. The Fortuna won 18 games in a row during this time.
